An unusually ‘blockbuster’ movie for Freedom Film Club, Mad Max: Fury Road (2015, dir. George Miller, 120 mins) is this month’s curated film.

Fury Road is a sci-fi action film set in a post-apocalyptic world that explores themes of basic survival and the retention of humanity in the face of post-apocalyptic events. It might feel disturbingly relevant to the current world situation.

The film was ranked by many critics as the best film of 2015 and was widely praised for its direction, screenplay, action sequences, score, cinematography, and ensemble cast, receiving ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, winning six.
